Cheramie Walz, Conn to Speak on Technology, Gender Issues to NJCASE

(Mahwah, NJ) - Partners Mark Cheramie Walz and David F. Conn of Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams are the sole featured speakers at the Spring 2017 conference of the New Jersey Council of Administrators of Special Education (NJCASE), scheduled for April 6, 2017, 12:00 – 4:00 P.M. at the Gran Centurions in Clark, NJ.

Cheramie Walz will present “Privacy and technology,” a review and discussion of the use of technology in education, including social media, livestreaming, the use of apps and websites, and data security in protecting student information. 

Conn will discuss “Gender Identity and Public Schools,” providing an introduction to terminology and concepts around gender identity, and offering an up-to-date analysis of the legal landscape for public schools addressing gender identity issues.

NJCASE is a state chapter of CASE, an international professional educational organization which is affiliated with the Council for Exceptional Children whose members are dedicated to the enhancement of the worth, dignity, potential, and uniqueness of each individual in society. Members include special education administrators from both the private and public sector from all over New Jersey.

Mark Cheramie Walz dedicates his work to the use of technology in education and advising practical solutions that reduce liability while harnessing the benefits of new technology. Additionally, Mark counsels school entities in all matters related to special education litigation, including due process hearings and federal court.

David Conn is a seasoned litigator who has represented public entities of almost every kind. David has been presenting on LGBT Issues in the school setting for many years, and for many different audiences, including lawyers, teachers, administrators and community groups. He is also the author of Doylestown Borough’s non-discrimination ordinance, which Equality PA continues to use a model local ordinance.
