Pittston, PA – Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams LLP is deepening its service to school districts in Northeast Pennsylvania with the addition of attorney Peter Agnone Ruane. Based in the Pittston office, Agnone Ruane will provide legal counsel to school administrators and work closely with district leaders to help strengthen programs, services, and operations. His practice areas include solicitor services, labor and employment, and special education.

Agnone Ruane brings a distinctive background to his education law practice, shaped by nearly a decade of policy and compliance leadership with UNICEF. In that role, he was instrumental in drafting internal regulations, guiding knowledge management initiatives, and supporting organizational change across global operations. His ability to navigate complex regulatory frameworks and implement practical solutions translates directly to the challenges school districts face today.

“Peter is an exceptional addition to our team,” said Christopher A. Bambach, partner and resident attorney in the Pittston office. “I’ve known Peter for over 20 years, and he brings not only a sharp legal mind but also a personable and thoughtful approach to his work. Our clients will benefit tremendously from his insight and dedication.”

Earlier in his career, Agnone Ruane practiced family law, advised nonprofits and small businesses, and served as a judicial law clerk in Lackawanna County. He holds a J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law and dual bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and theology from the University of Scranton. He is a Board-Certified Coach through the Center for Credentialing and Education and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams, LLP was formed in 1995 by nine experienced education lawyers who created the first private law practice in Pennsylvania dedicated entirely to Education Law. Since then, the firm has grown to 25 attorneys who represent over 290 school and municipal entities as Solicitors or as Special Counsel in more than 50 counties throughout Pennsylvania, and in additional practice areas, such as Construction Law, Tax Assessment Appeals, Audit of Operations and Practices, Real Estate Law and Oil, Gas and Mineral Law.
