Sweet Stevens Attorneys Help Shape Inaugural Special Education Law Conference
New Britain, PA - From navigating special education due process hearings to exploring the legal implications of artificial intelligence in schools, attorneys from Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams LLP attorneys will share their expertise at the inaugural Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) Special Education Law Conference on October 23, 2026, at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The firm is playing a key role in the conference, with partners Jane Williams and Christina Stephanos serving on the planning committee and, with other firm attorneys, leading educational sessions designed to help school administrators and education professionals address complex legal challenges.
With the theme “Law That Works for You,” the conference will bring together attorneys, educators and school leaders for practical discussions on special education law, compliance and emerging issues affecting Pennsylvania schools.
Sweet Stevens attorneys will present the following sessions:
- “Surprise! Your Presence Is Requested at the Due Process Hearing Regarding Student X…”: Williams and Stephanos will join AJ Kise, Director of Special/Alternative Education for the Nazareth Area School District, to offer perspectives on the challenges of special education due process hearings.
- “AI and Special Education: Reducing Administrative Burden Within the Confines of the Law”: Partner Christopher Bambach and Senior Associate Suzanne Pontious will examine the opportunities and legal considerations surrounding the use of artificial intelligence in special education.
“Special education law continues to evolve, and school leaders are navigating increasingly complex responsibilities,” said Williams. “This conference is an opportunity to bring attorneys and educators together to share practical insights, learn from one another and strengthen the decisions we make on behalf of students. We're especially pleased to contribute to a program that addresses both longstanding legal challenges and emerging issues such as artificial intelligence.”
The conference will take place at Iacocca Hall on Lehigh University's Mountaintop Campus, 111 Research Drive, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. For additional information or to register, visit https://www.bhaedu.com/.
