(New Britain, PA) – Andy Faust, a partner with Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams LLP is a featured faculty member for the upcoming Lehigh University College of Education Special Education Law Symposium, scheduled for June 21-26, 2015.

Dubbed “The 40th Anniversary of the IDEA: The Past Is Prologue,” the event will offer close to two dozen intensive sessions focusing on various aspects, laws and issues related to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and include a keynote address from Dr. Melody Musgrove, Director of the Office of Special Education Programs from the United States Department of Education.

Faust’s program, offered in the advanced track portion of the event, is entitled “’Meaningful’ Parental Participation I: Practical Recommendations,” and will explore, from a school district practitioner’s perspective, the often fine line between meaningful and productive parental involvement in the evaluation, program planning, and placement processes and obstruction and obstruction and obfuscation in those processes. Faust will co-present the program with Andrew Cuddy, a fellow education law attorney who practices in New York State.

Faust is a widely-recognized authority in the areas of special education, student services/child accounting and student civil rights, and has represented school districts and intermediate units at every level of the federal and state judicial and administrative systems.
