Linnell Asroff to Lead Discussion on Discipline and Students with Disabilities

Posted on

New Britain, PA – As school districts continue to navigate increasingly complex disciplinary issues involving students with disabilities, education law attorney Kalani Linnell Asroff, Esq. of Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams LLP will participate in a timely webinar exploring the legal and practical challenges facing educators and administrators.

As part of the “Special Education Law: New Insights, Changes, and Challenges” webinar on June 26 from 10:00 A.M. to 1:15 P.M., Linnell Asroff will lead a segment entitled “Disciplining Students with Disabilities: Current Issues and Answers.”

Student discipline remains one of the most challenging areas of special education law, requiring school leaders to balance student rights, educational access, and school safety while complying with federal and state regulations. During the presentation, Linnell Asroff will examine procedural due process requirements, protections afforded under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), manifestation determinations, special circumstances involving dangerous conduct, and recent legal developments affecting schools.

"School administrators are often faced with difficult decisions that must account for both legal obligations and the needs of the broader school community," said Linnell Asroff. "Understanding how discipline laws apply in these situations is essential for protecting students' rights while maintaining safe and effective learning environments."

The program is designed for attorneys seeking continuing legal education credits, but will also benefit school administrators, superintendents, principals, school board members, school psychologists, special and general education teachers, special education coordinators, school counselors, and paralegals. The seminar qualifies for three CLE credits. Additional information and registration are available through the National Business Institute’s website.

Linnell Asroff advises educational institutions on matters involving special education, student civil rights, and school operations and practices. She also works closely with administrators, principals, and school boards, guiding districts through every phase of the Title IX process, from intake and investigation to hearings and final resolution.
