Sweet Stevens Katz & Williams Celebrates 20 Years

(New Britain, PA) – On June 1, 2015, the law firm of Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams LLP marked its 20th year in practice.

It all began in 1995, when nine experienced education lawyers broke away from a larger firm to create a private law practice in Pennsylvania dedicated entirely to education law. Since then, the firm has grown to encompass two offices of 16 attorneys covering some 50 counties throughout Pennsylvania in their representation of close to 300 school and municipal entities in the commonwealth.

The firm’s development has progressed hand-in-hand with a number of ever-growing legal issues in Pennsylvania schools, such as civil rights defense, educational technology, labor/employment matters and investigations, special education, student services, and tax appeals. Through it all, the firm has stayed on the cutting edge of operational trends and legislation in each of those areas.

And while each of the attorneys has gained their own unique concentration of experience in one or more facets of education law, the Sweet Stevens approach to clients is that of a team: that is, any attorney is ready to provide assistance at any time to any client.

Beyond day-to-day counseling and litigation support, the firm has also developed a unique subscription-based service entitled “Pool Counsel,” where members are "pooled" on the email distribution of on-demand answers to various operational questions from school entities. Subscribers also have 24/7 access to an online database of questions and answers covering a multitude of legal issues in school entities.

“We cannot be more proud of our achievements and the team we have assembled over the past twenty years,” said Managing Partner Ellis Katz. “We deeply value our client relationships and are committed to providing prompt and definitive legal solutions for twenty more.”
