New Britain, PA – Attorney Rebekah Van Der Werf has joined Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams LLP as an associate focusing on special education law.

Van Der Werf comes to the firm from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, where she managed a substantial caseload of criminal matters, tried cases before both judges and juries, and oversaw the Veterans Treatment Court. Earlier in her career, she gained valuable litigation and client advocacy experience as a certified legal intern with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office and the Temple University Family Law Clinic.

“Rebekah brings strong courtroom experience and a thoughtful, client-centered approach to her work,” said Managing Partner Sharon W. Montanye. “Her background in trial advocacy and her dedication to public service make her a valuable addition to our education law team.”

Van Der Werf earned her Juris Doctor from Temple University Beasley School of Law, where she completed the Integrated Trial Advocacy Program and served as a teaching assistant. She holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal psychology from Liberty University.

She is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania.

Sweet, Stevens, Katz & Williams, LLP was formed in 1995 by nine experienced education lawyers who created the first private law practice in Pennsylvania dedicated entirely to Education Law. Since then, the firm has grown to 27 attorneys who represent over 290 school and municipal entities as Solicitors or as Special Counsel in more than 50 counties throughout Pennsylvania, and in additional practice areas, such as Construction Law, Tax Assessment Appeals, Audit of Operations and Practices, Real Estate Law and Oil, Gas and Mineral Law.
